Joburg EMS on high alert for any damage reports after earth tremor

JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) said it was on high alert for any reports of damage following an earth tremor.
Earthquake Monitor Online confirmed reports of a seismic-like event in Johannesburg on Tuesday night, but the Council for Geosciences has yet to verify the tremor’s magnitude.
Johannesburg EMS spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi, said they had received no serious reports of injuries or damage.
“Residents are urged to be safe. We remain on high alert and are monitoring all seven regions of the city for any reports related to the earth tremor.”
