JOHANNESBURG – Mining Affected Communities United in Action has been granted an interim order allowing it to send emergency food and relief to illegal miners still underground in Stilfontein. It’s unclear how many illegal miners remain underground.Macua believes miners are being subjected to life-threatening conditions due to law enforcement’s closure of access points often used by gold syndicates to deliver supplies underground. The organisation is requesting that the tunnels be re-opened, but the court is yet to rule on this.
