For the first time, the U.S. has introduced nationwide restrictions limits on “forever chemicals” in people’s drinking water.The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the new measure in April, with Administrator Michael Regan saying at the time: “Drinking water contaminated with PFAS has plagued communities across this country for too long.”Local municipalities have three years to carry out testing and monitor their levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances and five years to reduce the levels if harmful amounts are found.
