South Africa last saw a Government of National Unity when it collapsed in 1997. As it stands we may be headed into a new inclusive government. But, the two are different beasts. The ANC won an outright majority in 1994 and did not really need the National Party to govern.Their exit in 1996 made little difference to government.Things in 2024 are very different, with the ANC not holding a Parliamentary majority.Khulekani Mathe from Business Unity says parties need to really commit to improving South Africa and put political differences aside.
