CAPE TOWN – A Mfuleni police officer accused of raping an inmate last month has been denied bail in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.The magistrate accused Siyabonga Mbane of abusing his 26-year-old alleged victim by exploiting his legal authority.Magistrate Samson Nkambule also chastised Mbane for tarnishing the police service’s reputation.The officer will now remain in custody until 20 February 2025.eNCA’s Nobesuthu Hejana reports in the video above.
