Los Angeles Police Department officers arrived on the UCLA campus at the school’s request, authorities said early Wednesday. The LAPD described “multiple acts of violence within the large encampment” on the campus, and journalists on the scene reported clashes between pro-Palestinian protesters and counterprotesters. In New York, police made arrests at Columbia University after officers in riot gear entered the campus, breaching the Hamilton Hall building occupied by pro-Palestinian protesters.
